Accidentally Perfect eBook Elizabeth Stevens Reviews

ARC Review

I really liked this one! Was a page turner and kept me intrigued through the whole story. I really like how Roman and Piper based their relationship on always being honest. I feel that’s a great message to send to young adults about how real relationships should work. It’s not about roses and love songs all the time.
A couple of things that slightly annoyed. John Cusack?? Is he still popular in Australia or are 90s Rom-Coms all the rage? The constant references to him were annoying since in the US he’s not wildly popular anymore and I’m not sure he was as popular as the author made him seem in this story at all. I just find it hard to imagine a 17-18 year old girl stuck on an actor her fathers age or better when there have been several other actors since. I think their may have been a brief reference to her mothers affinity for the actor therefore she liked him also. Maybe this needed to be explained better because as much as his name was mentioned I just kept shaking my head thinking, Really???
Also, it took Piper way to long to realize she didn’t like Mason as a boyfriend. Once she found her backbone I honestly figured she would realize she was just caught up in Hadley’s hype.
I also think their needs to be a warning or preferred age expressed in the preface and summary since there are some explained sex scenes between Roman and Piper.
Other than those thoughts, I really enjoyed it!!
The blurb sounded really good and I was up for a sweet YA read, watching the perfect girl fall for the resident underachiever. Also, the John Cusack reference in the book had my interest.

But the book just fell flat for me. I struggled to finish the book because it was just so SLOW. Nothing much happened and there was a lot of talking. But then nothing happened. There were also instances where something seemed to happen out of the blue (because the characters acted like it had already been mentioned), but it was the first time I was hearing about it. I even flipped back a few pages, but nope, nothing. All of this made it hard for me to connect to the characters and I really wanted to like Piper and Roman.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This book started out SOOOOOO good. The Mason thing seemed a little unnecessary bc nothing really happened with them. A lot of stuff seemed a little unnecessary. I could of done with more Piper and Roman interactions where we could see their growth and how they fell in love with one another. Too much telling, not enough showing. After Mason and Piper got together is where the story started to fall flat. At that point Piper and Roman were just being annoyingly stubborn and I didn't really care about what happened. I wanted to see them struggle together to be a couple. To see their love for one another at their ugliest and most beautiful. I wanted to see the jealousy, the tension. I wanted to see Piper and Roman go out on a date. It should of focused more on that instead of adding all the filler for dramatic effect. I thought for sure I would of loved this book, but it ended up just being meh. After that rushed ending, I thought there would for sure be an epilogue, but nope. It's probably for the best though, bc she can always pick up after high school and just focus on Piper and Roman's relationship and how they make it work. I hope she writes a book about Rio. Hopefully it takes place a year later. Maybe even have Piper and Roman make an appearance.
I really enjoyed this story. Roman and Piper made a unlikely couple but their coming together made this story a sweet one.
This book had me hooked from chapter one. Funny. Romantic. Adorable. I've recommended this book to just about every reader friend I have. Love me some Roman Lombardi.
I thought this book was well written. I thought the characters were well thought out. Roman was a misunderstood teen with a big heart. He had the perfect "bad boy" charisma. Piper was a shy girl who was never truly comfortable being herself around other people. Which is why they were perfect for each other. Piper brought out the kind, thoughtful side of Roman, and Roman taught Piper not to be scared to say and do what she thought.
I loved this book. Well written. Could not put it down. Read though the night until I finished. Nice to see the good side to the bad boy and the girl who understood him. Need more reads like this one. Which there was a second part to this story.
